  1. What Can A Cricut Machine Do
  2. How To Use Cricut Maker

If you have Cricut Access you can use any images and fonts that have the little green 'a' next to it (99%) of images without paying an extra cent. If you want to use characters from Disney, Hello Kitty, etc. You'll need to pay for those. Are you confused about why people are saying you have to pay for a subscription to use your Cricut? Nope, that is not the case. Cricut Design Space is an inc.

Have you ever wanted to use Cricut Design Space when you didn't have internet access? Let's dive right in and find out how you can use your own design in Cricut Design Space offline!
The first thing you need to be aware of is that right now using Cricut Design Space offline is only available using the Design Space app in iOS. This is because with the app you have the ability to save a project to your device or to the cloud.
The next thing you need to be aware of is some options are only available when you're online. Using Cricut Design Space offline will be limited to things you have saved to your device. For instance uploading your own image is only possible when you are online. Because of this you'll want to make sure to have your project created before you head offline so it's in your files to cut when you don't have internet access.
Step 1. Make sure your project is saved to your device (I created this cute 'I love us' design using the WordSwag app). This allows it to be found and used without internet access. To do this click on the disk on the upper left of your screen and then click 'Save As'.
Next name your design and then click 'Save on this iPhone' (or iPad).
Step 2. Open your project offline (if you want to check that it's there turn off your wireless and click to airplane mode)! When you open the Cricut Design Space app you'll be taken to the home page, to find the projects you have saved to your device click the drop down menu on the upper left (it may say 'all categories', 'my projects in the cloud', 'Cricut access' I believe it depends on what you were looking at the last time you were in there).
Select 'My Projects on this iPhone' (or iPad). Next select your project and click 'open'. This will open your design onto your canvas.Step 3. Adjust your project as needed. You can resize your image, add other images you have saved to your device, add shapes, add additional text (using the system tab under texts because those are the ones on your device), etc.
Step 4. Send your design to the mat. Once you have your project exactly how you want it click the green C in the bottom corner and 'make it'. This will send you to the mat screen.
Here you can see exactly how your design is going to cut. If you need to make adjustments (mirror your image, cut more than 1, etc.) you will click on the mat on the upper left of your screen and select how many project copies you want to cut, what your material size is, and if you want to mirror your image for iron-on you will do that on this screen. To close out of that just touch the mat on the upper left again and you'll see that the changes you've made are shown on the mat screen. Now if you want to move where your image is cutting on the mat tap the image and a blue adjusting square will appear around your image, you can now drag your image where you want it on the mat.
Step 5. Cut your project. Once you have everything looking exactly how you want it on the mat screen click the green C in the lower left corner of your screen and 'continue'. Here is where you will connect to your machine (if you haven't already) make sure your bluetooth is on and connect to your machine (you will have needed to have used your machine with internet connection before with your device so all the settings are on your iPhone/iPad for that particular machine). From here you will select your material, confirm you have the correct blade in your machine, load your material, and then click the green C in the lower right corner to 'continue' and cut your project!

I hope this tutorial is helpful and has you creating and using Cricut Design Space offline with wonderful success. If you'd like more Cricut Design Space tutorials comment below with what you'd like to learn and we'll tackle it for you! Come back Wednesday to see how I used this cute 'I love us' design for a little Valentine decor here at home.

I've sent them a strongly worded email letting them know that an online only program is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. As a whole, we collectively all hate it. There have been entire weeks the program has been down because they were 'tweaking' it.

If you're a Cricut newbie, Cricut beginner or thinking about getting a Cricut machine, this post will provide you with all the basics you need to get familiar with Cricuts and answer some questions you may have about the different Cricut machines.

What the Cricut machine does

The Cricut machine is a cutting machine that can cut various materials including paper, vinyl and cardstock. I'll go into more detail later on the types of materials that can be used with your Cricut machine. There have been various Cricut machines with the latest machine being the Cricut Joy.

The 3 machines below are the latest Cricut machines still being sold on the Cricut website and at other retailers. Cricut design space not working in chrome.

While all Cricut machines can cut, draw and score, only the Cricut Maker can engrave, deboss, wave and perf. Engraving is the process of carving designs into materials. Debossing is the process of putting depressions into materials to give them dimension. The Wavy blade allows you to add waves to a project design. Perfing is the process of adding evenly spaced lines to a project in order to create a clean tear every time.

The best Cricut machine to buy

Again, there are 3 different Cricut machines that are popular right now which are listed above. A lot of people who are interested in getting a Cricut machine want to know which Cricut machine is the best to buy. While there are many factors to consider when choosing a Cricut machine, I'll list a few differences between the Cricut machines.

One of the most noticeable differences between the Cricut machines is the number of materials that can be used with each machine. According to Cricut, the Cricut Joy can be used with 50+ materials, the Cricut Explore Air 2 can be used with 100+ materials and the Cricut Maker can be used with 300+ materials.

To get a list of materials that can be used with your Cricut machine, sign up to my Free Resource Library at the end of this post.

Another important difference to note is that to use some of the features on your Cricut, you will need additional tools such as:

Cricut Explore Air 2: Scoring Stylus, Cricut Pens, Cricut Blades

Cricut Maker: Scoring Wheel, Cricut Pens, Cricut Blades (wavy blade, perforation blade, etc.) debossing tip, and engraving tip

When assessing which Cricut machine is best to buy, you also want to consider the cost. The Cricut Joy is the least expensive of the Cricut machines. Although it is the least expensive, it is smaller and can cut fewer materials than the other machines. The Cricut Explore Air 2 machine is the middle of the road. You can buy Explore Air 2 bundles that come with vinyl, Cricut pens, the basics tool set, extra mats, etc.

The Cricut Maker is the most expensive of the 3 Cricut machines and can be used with over 300 materials which is why many people bypass the other 2 machines.

So in all, the best Cricut machine for you depends on what you're looking to do with the machine in regards to making projects and how much you're willing to invest in a machine.

Is the Cricut Maker worth the extra money?

A question that Cricut beginners often ask is if the Cricut Maker is worth the extra money and what the Cricut Maker can do that the Explore Air 2 can't.

Again, the response to this question is based on the types of projects you intend to make with your machine. If you plan to cut wood with your machine, you'll need to invest in the Cricut Maker. If you'll only be cutting mostly vinyl and cardstock, the Cricut Explore Air 2 should suffice. I encourage you to download the printables from my Free Resource Library that show what materials each machine can cut by signing up at the bottom of this post.
